COURSE DESCRIPTION:
You will learn printing processes on site and experiment with "eco" techniques using natural materials such as ink, rust, stains, weathering actions, and stencils over printed layers, that all reference nature for an interpretation of resources and specimens. Through these printing processes, a variety of information pages will be made that are the content of handmade book that will serve to record actions and phenomenon, a history of encounters, to develop a "sense of place".

Emphasis is on visual observation and a collaborative studio atmosphere that contributes to awareness on the diversity of the natural world, environmental issues, and on perception on multiple levels. Our bookmaking structures will set page order, and record time and information for finished objects.

This course allows for imaginative minds to pursue questions and solutions through observation, invention, conversation, personal growth, sharing, and the visual development of ideas. Our studio experiences will parallel and complement the work of the scientists at CPBS. This creative field school course is designed to create a comfortable yet challenging atmosphere for the exploration of art media and expression with contemporary meaning and applications.
