ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Mr. Eddie Dominguez- Instructor Dominguez is a leading artist in contemporary ceramic and multimedia art whose use of expressive color and line reflect his interest in symbols and imagery that communicate emotion, ethnicity and gender. He was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico, and received his BFA from Cleveland Art Institute, and his MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Dominquez has been awarded two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, and has led workshops at Anderson Ranch, Colorado; Tamarind Institute, New Mexico; Haystack Mountain School, Maine; Rhode Island School of Design; Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan. He is currently an Associate Professor of ceramics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Mixed Media: Art & Nature will teach techniques, materials, and concepts to explore the natural environment through artistic expression. Drawing is an entry point to awaken observation and awareness of the natural world, environmental issues, and levels of perception beyond simple realism. Course work will help students discover individual creativity inspired by science, nature, and experience in the unique field station environment. Techniques may include drawing, collage, rubbings, incorporation of gathered and ephemeral materials and natural weathering actions on paper.
