Courses
When you take a course at Cedar Point it will be an experience like no other in your educational career. Most students agree it is the highlight of their educational experiences. Our courses are experience based learning with an emphasis on student research projects.
Cedar Point offers eight classes every summer. Many of the classes are taught on a rotation of every other year. The classes in field biology for 2008 are

- Field Animal Behavior
- Field Parasitology
- Field Epidemiology
- General Botany
- Ecology and Evolution
- Limnology
- Organismic Biology

Each course lasts 3 weeks and you have a choice between the two courses offered each session. There will be two courses running concurrently in each session, and students can earn from 4-16 credit in a summer.
We offer small courses where you get to know not only your fellow classmates very well, but also your instructor. Interactions with instructors are invaluable in terms of getting to know them and having someone who can provide an excellent letters of recommendation or giving you the opportunity to work in their lab at UNL. Students enjoy the camping like atmosphere of living in the rustic one room cabins.
Taking courses at Cedar Point is an excellent value for your tuition dollar. The tuition rate is the same as a campus course. If you feel you may not be able to afford to take a course at Cedar Point, contact the Cedar Point office and to discuss scholarship options to assist covering the room and board fee. In order to be considered for a room and board scholarship you fill in an application form (Word or PDF, have a copy of your transcript sent to us, and get a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
Students who are not currently enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are always welcome to take courses at Cedar Point Biological Station. Yust fill out the Visiting Student Application for Admission in addition to your Cedar Point application.
